Wir sind Millionäre

 

Von Phnom Penh sind wir nach Laos geflogen und in der Hauptstadt Vientiane als erstes Untergekommen. Eigentlich wollten wir 2 Tage die Stadt erkunden und danach mit dem Bus weiter nach Vang Vieng gehen doch nach einer heftigen Nacht mit Durchfall und Erbrechen schafften wir es nicht weiter zu fahren und mussten unseren Aufenthalt um einen Tag verlängern. Glücklicherweise war es bei beiden schnell aber heftig und wir fühlten uns nach einem Tag ruhe wieder kräftig genug um die Bus fahrt in Angriff zu nehmen. Vientiane hat uns nicht so gut gefallen, es ist eine grosse Stadt mit wenig Sehenswürdigkeiten, also nicht unbedingt ein Muss dahin zu fahren aber meisten kommt man dicht Drumherum. Wer aber trotzdem da ist sollte unbedingt ins COPE Museum das einem über die Mienen und Bomben Kambodschas aufklärt und sehr spannend ist.

 

 

 

 

Nach langem Reisen geht man in Laos an den Bankomat und bezieht 2 ein halb Millionen aus der Maschine. Unglaublich nach so langem Reisen sind wir plötzlich Millionäre und was man für das Geld bekommt ist noch verrückter. Kaum zu glauben das Vietnam noch günstiger sein soll. Troztdem kommen wir eher Arm zurück in die Schweiz, aber keiner kann uns diese Erlebnisse und Eindrücke mehr nehmen, also denke ich das wir reicher als jeder Schweizer-Millionär sind. Nach 5h Busfahrt sind wir in Vag Vieng angekommen wo wir 2 Tage in einem Bungalow Übernachten in den Bearlin Bungalows was wirklich sehr toll war und etwas ausserhalb der Stadt. Später blieben wir noch im Riverside für 2 Nächte und genossen etwas Luxus in Mitte Laos. Vang Vieng ist bekannt als Party Dorf für Tubing und Alkohol. Doch der Staat hat den Alkohol verbannt da zu viele Menschen ums Leben kamen uns jetzt ist es ein ruhiges Dorf und bekannt für Kajaken, Wandern und andere Sportarten. Wir buchten eine Tour mit dem Kajak was sehr schön war, denn Vang Vieng ist von Karstgebirge umgeben und dies kommt auf dem Fluss richtig schön zur Geltung. Mit dem Fahrrad sind wir zu der Blue Lagoon geradelt wo sich die Japaner und Koreaner mit Schwimmwesten vom Baum in die Lagune fallen lassen. Also wirklich fallen lassen! Ein lustiges Erlebnis um zuzuschauen und der weg mit dem Fahrrad ist toll. Später sind wir noch zum Aussichtpunkt hoch gewandert. Ein unglaublich Steiler weg und nicht wirklich der einfachste also gutes Schuhwerk ist angesagt. Wir genossen das Dorf und machten uns nach 4 Tage auf den Weg nach Luang Prabang. Doch bevor wir da ankommen steht die schlimmste Busfahrt vor uns die wir je hatten. 8h lang über eine Passstrasse mit dem aggressivsten Fahrer. Mit unserem Car haben wir Autos, Minivans und Roller in allen Kurven überholt und sind Hupend 8h die schöne Landschaft hoch und runtergefahren. Das hastige Bremsen des Fahrers schoss allen schnell auf dem Magen bis das eine Mädchen neben uns die ganze Fahrt erbrechen musste. Wc Pause? Was ist das? Alle Passagiere fragten ständig nach Wc pausen. Doch unser Fahrer fuhr einfach weiter bis plötzlich alle Aufstanden und ihm zuschrien das er anhalten soll. Nach 5h eine kurze Wc Pause und die Horrorfahrt ging weiter. Glücklicherweise sind wir wohlauf mit einigen schrecken und minus einem Huhn gut in Luang Prabang angekommen.

 

 

We are millionaires

 

From Phnom Penh we flew to Cambodia and settled in the capital Vientiane. Actually, we wanted to explore the city for 2 days and then continue by bus to Vang Vieng but after a brutal night with diarrhea and vomiting we could not drive further and had to extend our stay by one day. Luckily, it was quick and fast for both of us and after a day of rest we felt strong enough again to take the bus ride. In Vientiane there is not so much to see , it is a big city with few sights, so not necessarily a must to drive there but mostly there is no other way. But whoever is there, should definitely go to the COPE Museum, which will help you to get an overview of the mines and bombs of Cambodia and it is very interesting.

After long journey, we had to go to the ATM in Laos where we got 2 half million in cash from the machine. Unbelievable after such a long journey we are suddenly millionaires and what you get for the money is even more crazy. Hardly to believe that Vietnam should be even cheaper. In the meantime, we are more likely to come back to Switzerland as poor people, but no one can take this experience away from us, so I think that we are richer than any Swiss millionaire. After 5h bus trip we arrived in Vag Vieng where we spent 2 days in a bungalow in the Bearlin Bungalows which was really great and a bit out of town. Later we stayed at the Riverside for 2 nights and enjoyed some luxury in the middle

of Laos. Vang Vieng is known as a party village for tubing and alcohol. However, the state has banished the alcohol since too many people were killed as now it is a quiet village and known for kayaking, hiking and other sports. We booked a tour with the kayak which was very nice, because Vang Vieng is surrounded by karst mountains and on the river its really beautiful to see the whole surrounding. By bike, we went to the Blue Lagoon where the Japanese and Koreans drop with the lifejackets from the tree into the lagoon. They really just drop down! A fun experience to watch and the bike ride is great. Later we went up to the viewpoint. An incredibly steep way and not really the simplest so good shoes is announced. We enjoyed the village and after four days we made our way to Luang Prabang. But before we arrive there, we had the worst bus ride ahead of us. 8h long over a pass road with the most aggressive driver. With our big bus, we overtook cars, minivans and scooters in every sharp corner and of we went tooting 8h through the beautiful landscape up and down the pass road. The hasty braking of the driver shot everyone quickly on the stomach until the one girl beside us had to vomit the whole ride. Toilet break? What’s this? All passengers were constantly asking for break a toilet break. But our driver simply continued on until suddenly all the passengers stood up and screamed at him that he should stop. After 5h a short toilet break and the horror trip went on. Luckily, we are well, with some scares and minus a chicken we arrived in Luang Prabang.
