Sydney die Stadt der Städte.
So unser Zuhause haben wir zurück gegeben und machten uns auf den Weg in die riesige Stadt Sydney. Als wir aus den Zug stiegen beim Circular Quay am Hafen war ein überdimensional grosses Cruise Schiff vor uns. Ich habe noch nie ein solches Schiff gesehen. Ausgestattet mit sicherlich 15 Stockwerke oder mehr sah das Opera Haus mickrig klein aus daneben. Mit Sack und Pack machten wir uns in den Stadt teil The Rocks wo sich auch unser Hostel befindet. Am ersten Tag erschufen wir uns einen Überblick über unsere Umgebung. Am nächsten Tag traf uns die Hitzewelle, 38 Grad in einer Stadt das ist fast nicht auszuhalten. Wir gingen von Klimaanlage zu Klimaanlage und schlenderten einige Strassen. Am Abend nahmen wir die Wasserfähre nach Woolwich und trafen uns mit alten Arbeitskollegen von Eva und mir.
Unser Absolutes Lieblings Restaurant für das leckerste Frühstück war der Fine Food Store im Rocks Viertel. Ein MUSS für jeden Frühstücksfan.
Als nächstes stand Darling Harbour und Shopping auf der Liste. Lukas fühlte sich im the Rocks Viertel am wohlsten und ich muss gestehen ich auch. Keine Menschenmengen, tolle Pubs, süsse Restaurants und ein flair wie in Edinburgh. In diesem Viertel fühlt man sich wie in einer kleinen überschaubaren Stadt. Wir fanden auch andere Seiten von Sydney zum Beispiel in der Nähe des Queen Victoria Gebäude. Da geht die Post ab. Shopping, tausende von Menschen auf dem selben Ort. Schnell flüchteten wir wieder in unser gemütliches Viertel.
Besonders gut war unser Hostel das YHA Harbour. Es war absolut genial. Es hat eine riesengrosse Terrasse auf dem obersten Stock und man sieht direkt zum Opera House und zur Harbour Bridge ohne jegliche Hochhäuser im Weg. Unglaublich tolles Hostal. Dies war Freddys erste Hostel Erfahrung seit Jahren und er fand es sogar genial.
Der Tag der Tage. 26.Aug Australia Day. Früh standen wir auf um ein Abroiginal Morgenritual zu erleben. Dies war ein tolles Erlebnis, denn in dem Teil von Australien, denn wir besuchten sahen wir fast keine einheimischen Menschen. Dies hat uns ziemlich stutzig gemacht, denn in jedem Land zuvor leben die Europäer und die einheimischen Zusammen, dies fehlte uns ein wenig auf unserer Reise an der Ostküste. Wir konnten wenig über die Kultur lernen. Dieses Morgenritual war sehr bewegend. Eine Aboriginal Frau hielt eine Rede und man fühlt und spürt wie verletz diese Menschen noch sind und wir der Weg für ein gemeinsames zusammenleben noch sehr steil und lang ist. Aber sie sind alle in der Hoffnung auf dem richtigen Weg zu sein und sin positiv eingestimmt auf ein weiteres Miteinander als eine Einheit. Ein sehr bewegendes Erlebnis. Nach diesem tollen Start in den Tag genossen wir unsere Aussicht von der Terrasse und schauten der Menschenmenge zu, so wie alle Boote im Hafen und die Helikopter/Flugzeuge über uns Shows machten. Am Abend besuchten uns Freunde von SüdAfrika die jetzt in Canberra leben gemeinsam genossen wir ein Nachtessen.
Früh aus den Federn, wir marschieren von Bondi Beach nach Coogee. Wieder ein Muss für jeden Sydney Besucher. Ein wundervoller walk am Meer entlang, mit Felsen, Strände uns Super Pools. Also die Badesachen nicht vergessen.
Sydney hat uns sehr gut gefallen besonders der Stadtteil the Rocks. Die Harbour Bridge der Hafen und das Opera Haus sind wahnsinnig eindrücklich. Und natürlich unsere Lieblings Frühstück Restaurant the Fine Food Store.
Allem in allen war Australien eine Reise wert. Wir genossen die Vielfalt der Tiere und die schönen Strände. Was uns etwas fehlte war die Abwechslung, da es ein solch grosses Land ist fährt man Stunden und draussen verändert sich nicht viel. Die Highlights der Ostküste war für uns Cairns mit dem Daintree und Cape tribulation sowie die Millaa Millaa Falls, Jetski fahren in Airlie Beach, Lake McKenzie auf Fraser Island, Brisbane und Sydney.
Sydney the city of the cities.
So our home we have given back and made our way to the huge city of Sydney. When we got off the train at the Circular Quay by the harbor there was an oversized cruise ship infront of us. I have never seen such a gigantic ship. With certainly 15 floors or more, the Opera House looked tinny beside it. With bag and luggage we went to the city part The Rocks where our hostel is located. On the first day we checked out the neighbourhood. The next day the heat wave hit us with 38 degrees in a city, that is almost unbearable. We went from air conditioning to air conditioning and strolled some streets. In the evening we took the water ferry to Woolwich and met with old work colleagues from Eva and me.
Our Absolute favorite restaurant for the most delicious breakfast was the Fine Food Store in the rock quarter. A must for every breakfast fan.
Next up was Darling harbor and shopping on the list. Lukas felt most comfortable in the Rocks quarter and I must confess me too. No crowds, great pubs, sweet restaurants and a flair as in Edinburgh. In this quarter, you feel like you are in a small, manageable city. We also found other sites of Sydney, for example, close to the Queen Victoria building. Shopping, thousands of people in the same place. We quickly escaped to our cozy neighborhood.
Especially our hostel the YHA Harbor was amazing. It was absolutely awesome. It has a huge terrace on the top floor and you can see directly to the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge without any skyscrapers in the way. Incredibly great hostal. This was Freddy’s first hostel experience for years and he even found it awesome.
The day of the days. 26.Aug Australia Day. Early we got up to experience an Aboriginal morning ceremony. This was a great experience, because in the part of Australia, as we visited we saw almost no indigenous people. We thought this is rather strange as in each country before we visited befor the Europeans and the locals live together, we were missing this cultural bit that belongs to the country a lot. So at this ceremony we could learn a little about the culture. The morning ritual was very moving. An Aboriginal woman gave a speech and you feel how injured these people are and the road for a shared cohabitation is still very steep and long. But they are all hoping to be on the right path and positively agree on a further living as a unity. A very moving experience. After this great start to the day, we enjoyed our view from the terrace and watched the crowds, and all the boats in the harbor as all the helicopters / airplanes above us. In the evening, we got visiters, friends from South Africa who now live in Canberra. We enjoyed a lovely night together.
The next day is a nother early start, as we wanna walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee. Again a must visit for any Sydney visitor. A wonderful walk along the sea, with rocks, beaches and super pools. So, do not forget the swimming costums.
We enjoyed Sydney alot especially the district the Rocks. The Harbor Bridge, the harbor and the Opera House are incredibly impressive. And of course, our favorite breakfast restaurant the Fine Food Store.
All in all, Australia was worth a visit. We enjoyed the variety of animals and the beautiful beaches. What something was missing was the change in scenery and nature, since it is such a large country you are driving hours and hours and outside does not change alot. The highlights of the east coast were for us Cairns with the Daintree and Cape tribulation as well as the Millaa Millaa Falls, jet skiing in Airlie Beach, Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island, Brisbane and Sydney.
Yehhhhh es ist Weihnachten…. Schnee.. Sterne… Lichter… Guetzli…. Kuscheln… Weihnachtszauber…
Meine absolute Lieblings Zeit des Jahres. Viele meiner Freunde und auch Lukas denken ich sei verrückt, wenn ich tanzend und singen zu Last Christmas in der Küche Weihnachtsguetzli backe und bereits im November alle Geschenke eingepackt haben für unter den Weihnachtsbaum. Aber es gibt nichts schöneres als diese Zeit mit seinen liebsten zu verbringen. Leider bleibt der Zauber dieses Jahr etwas weg den wir verbringen Weihnachten in Cairns bei 36*C plus. Jedoch ist ein kleiner teil unserer liebsten bei uns. Meine Eltern werden unsere Reise für 4 Wochen begleiten und mit uns von Cairns nach Sydney fahren. Weihachten in der Hitze war auch mal ein Erlebnis aber trotzdem für mich kein «richtiger» Weihnachtszauber.
Ankuft Cairns. Lukas und ich wieder bereit mit einem riesengrossen Plakat und Samichlaus Mützen um meine Eltern zu empfangen. Das längste das wir uns zuvor nicht gesehen haben waren 4 Wochen. Jetzt sind bereits 4 Monate vergangen. Es ist ein fröhliches Wiedersehen natürlich mit ein paar Tränen.
Zunächst haben wir uns auf den Weg nach Cairns gemacht wo wir in Wonga Beach bei Bob Weihnachten feierten und andere den Jetlag ausschliefen. Nach einigen Tage Ruhe sind wir hoch in den Daintree und nach Cape Tribulation gefahren ein wundervoller Ort. Das Verrückte ist die Traumstrände sind nicht mit Menschenmengen überlaufen, denn man kann im Meer nicht Schwimmen wegen den Jellyfisch und den Krokodilen. Was das Ganze aber auch etwas gemein macht in dieser Hitze, man wünscht sich nichts mehr als einfach kurz ins Meer zu springen um eine Abkühlung zu bekommen.
Später wieder in Richtung Süden stoppten wir in Cairns, Millaa Millaa wo wir das Baumkänguru sahen, war eine tolle fahrt vorbei an den Millaa Millaa Wasserfällen und später nach Townsville.
Nach Townsville hatten wir einen längeren Stopp in Airlie Beach und feierten in das neue Jahr. Was für ein Start das Neue Jahr mit einer Jetskitour zu der Daydreamisland zu beginnen.
Weiter nach Mackay wo wir uns mit bekannten reisenden trafen die wir in Peru kennenlernten machten wir später die Lange und gerade Fahrt nach Bundaberg. Die Strassen sind unglaublich. Nach Neuseeland muss man sich ziemlich umgewöhnen einfach wieder Stunden geradeaus zu fahren ohne das die Natur draussen sich gross ändert.
In Bundaberg wollten wir unbedingt zu Mon Repos die Schildkröten anschauen gehen wie sie die Eier am Strand legen, da wir aber in den Schulferien unterwegs sind war das ganze bereits für die nächsten 2 Wochen ausgebucht. Schade aber man hat nicht immer Glück.
Weiter geht’s nach Hervey Bay für einige Tage damit wir von da aus die Fraser Island besuchen können. Eine tolle Insel obwohl das Wetter glück heute nicht so richtig mitspielte hatten wir den Ausflug sehr genossen und die Faszination dieser riesen grossen Sandinsel aufzunehmen. Auf den Campingplätzen war sehr viel los also falls ihr mal in der Hauptsaison nach Australien geht muss man sich schon mit Buchungen für die nächsten paar Tage befassen.
Nächste Stopp Sunshine Coast und weiter nach Brisbane. Wow was für eine Stadt Brisbane ist, gemütlich, vibrant und freundlich. Brisbane hat uns allen mega gut gefallen. Besonders bezahlt man 4 Dollar für den Bus und darf damit 2 Stunden gratis mit den City Cat fahren, das ist die Fähre die auf dem Fluss in Brisbane hoch und runterfährt und man somit wundervolle Seiten der Stadt entdecken kann. Auch fanden wir da ein absolutes super Asia Restaurant Fat Noddles, sehr zu empfehlen.
Gold Coast wir kommen. Surfers Paradies und weitere tolle Sehenswürdigkeiten. Hier traffen wir auch zwei Mädels die wir in Süd Amerika kennenlernten und sie zeigten und Ihr zuhause. Tolle Strände, viele Surfer und heiss heiss heiss den wir befinden uns zurzeit in einer Hitzewelle.
Ab nach Byron Bay das jeder kennt, der schon in Australien war. Ein herziges hippie Dorf mit viel Charm. Kleine Krämmerläden, Strassenmusiker und gutes Essen sowie tolle Märkte. Ein Highlight hier war zu Fuss zum Leuchtturm zu marschieren. Mit wundervoller Aussicht und eine unglaubliche Tierwelt. Wir sahen sogar Delfine.
Nach Byron Bay sind wir zu unsere Australischem Highlight gekommen der Campingplatz am Corinidi Beach. Ein absolutes muss für jeden Camper. Die Aussicht war unglaublich und wir genossen jeden Moment. Lukas hatte leider da eine Ohrenentzündung bekommen. Aber sonst ging es allen wunderbar. Zu viert auf ein paar Quadratmeter muss nicht immer einfach sein. Aber wir haben uns erstaunlicherweise gut Arrangiert und genossen die Zeit miteinander. Eva zuständig für die Wäsche, Lukas der Fahrer und Koordinator, Robyn die Planerin und Organisatorin und Freddy überblick über das Bier… haha.. nein er hat immer ganz brav den Abwasch gemacht. Wie gesagt Corindi Beach ein MUSS. Kängurus auf dem Camping Platz, Delfine die im Meer hoch und runter Schwimmen, wunderschöne Rockpools und einen unglaublichen Sonnenaufgang.
Langsam geht es schon dem Ende zu. Weitere Stops waren Bonny Hills und Port Stephens. Port Stephens ist Nähe Nelson Bay wo wir eine Quad Tour auf den riesen Sanddünen machten. War ein tolles Erlebnis. Wir liebten unsere Campingtour und können freuen uns auf weitere Abenteuer.

Yehhhhh it’s Christmas …. Snow .. Stars … Lights … Cookies …. Cuddles … Christmas spirit …
My absolute favorite time of the year. Many of my friends and also Lukas think I am crazy when I’m dancing and singing to Last Christmas in the kitchen while baking Christmascookies. But there is nothing better than spending this time with our loved ones. Unfortunately, the spirit this year is a bit different as we spend Christmas in Cairns at 36 * C plus. However, a small part of our dearest will be with us. My parents will join us for 4 weeks and travel with us from Cairns to Sydney. Christmas in the heat was also an experience but for me no „real“ Christmas magic.
Arrive Cairns. Lukas and I again prepared with a big poster and santaclause hats to receive my parents. The longest we had not seen each other before were 4 weeks. Now 4 months have passed. It is a happy reunion of course with a few tears.
First, we went to Cairns where we celebrated Christmas at Wonga Beach by Bob and others suffered with jetlagged. After a few days of rest, we went high up to the Daintree and after to Cape Tribulation what a wonderful place. The crazy thing is the beaches are not crowded with people because you can not swim in the sea because of the jellyfish and the crocodiles. What makes the whole thing a bit mean in the heat, you want nothing more than just to jump into the sea to cool down.
Later we headed south, again in Cairns then the Millaa Millaa Falls where we saw the tree kangaroo and later to Townsville.
After Townsville, we had a longer stop in Airlie Beach and celebrated in to the New Year. What a start to the New Year with a jetski tour to the Daydream island.
Continue to Mackay where we met with friends we got to know in Peru. We took the long and straight road to Bundaberg. The streets are incredible. After New Zealand you have to get used to just having to go straight for hours and the scenery not chancing a lot.
In Bundaberg, we wanted to go to Mon Repos to see the turtles as they lay their eggs on the beach, but since we are in the school holidays it was already booked out for the next 2 weeks. A pity but you are not always lucky.
We continue to Hervey Bay for a few days so we can visit Fraser Island from there. A great island although the weather fortunately did not play for us, we had a great daytrip and enjoyed the fascination of this big sand island. The campgrounds were very busy so if you go in the main seasion to Australia you have to deal with bookings for the next couple of days.
Next stop Sunshine Coast and continue to Brisbane. Wow what a city Brisbane is, cozy, vibrant and friendly. We all enjoyed Brisbane very much. Especially, you pay 4 dollars for the bus and then get to ride 2 hours free with the City Cat, which is the ferry which goes up and down the river in Brisbane and you can discover wonderful sides of the city. Also, we found an absolute super Asia restaurant Fat Noddle’s, very recommendable.
Gold Coast here we come. Surfers paradise and other great sights. Here we also met two girls whom we met in South America and they showed us their home. Great beaches, many surfers and hot hot hot we are currently in a heat wave.
Off to Byron Bay who everyone knows that has been in Australia. A hearty hippie village with lots of charm. Small stores, street musicians and good food as well as great markets. A highlight here was to walk to the lighthouse. With a wonderful view and an incredible animal world. We even saw dolphins.
After Byron Bay we have one of our Australian highlighst the campsite at Corinidi Beach. An absolute must for every camper. The view was amazing and we enjoyed every moment. Lukas got unfortunately an ear infection. But otherwise it was all wonderful. Four adults on a few square meters does not always need to be easy. But we were amazingly well organized and enjoyed the time together. Eva responsible for the laundry, Lukas the driver and coordinator, Robyn the planner and organizer and Freddy had the control of the beer … haha .. no he did the washing up. As said, Corindi Beach is a must. Kangaroos on the campsite, dolphins swimming up and down the sea, gorgeous rock pools and an incredible sunrise.
Slowly it is already the coming to an end in our campervan. Other stops were Bonny Hills and Port Stephens. Port Stephens is near Nelson Bay where we did a quad tour on the giant sand dunes. Was a great experience. We loved our camping holiday and can’t wait for our next adventure.

Melbourne CBD weihnachts wahnsinn
Melbourne die Stadt die lebt und bebt.
Kurz und knapp einen kleinen Städtetrip nach Melbourne war ziemlich cool, da wir eine megamässiges Air BnB Apartment hatten in Mitte der CBD. Seht selber! Die Woche vor Weihnachten in einer Stadt wie Melbourne zu Besuchen ist verrückt und eine wahnsinnige Erfahrung. Um im H&M ein T-shirt anzuprobieren hatte man eine 30 minütige Warteschlange. Also hatte Lukas glück, das war mir sogar zu blöde und er wurde vom Shopping verschont. Es ist lustig zu sehen wie die Leute in Down under im Sommer Weihnachten feiern. Obwohl es um die 30 grad ist wird trotzdem mit Schnee geschmückt und alles sehr weihnachtlich Dekoriert. Wir genossen besonders unser Air BnB und die Skyline von dem Wohnzimmer. Wir haben eine liebe Freundin hier wieder getroffen die wir in Peru kennenlernten und genossen einen tollen Abend zusammen. Es ist so schön Freunde auf der ganzen Welt zu haben.

Melbourne is the city that lives and vibes.
A short and sweet city trip to Melbourne was cool as we had a wonderful Air BnB apartment in the middle of the CBD. See for yourself! You can call us crazy visiting a city like Melbourne the week befor Christamas. And I tell you it was Crazy. a 30 minute wait to just try one t-shirt on in H&M. So Lukas was lucky i didnt want to shop like that so he got away with not having to shop with me. It dosnt feel like Christmas though at all. But its fun to see how the people are as mad everywhere in the world before christmas. Allthough, they have a hot Christmas they have lights everywhere ans snow decoration with Santas. It seems so funny for us. We enjoyed our amazing Air BnB and the lovely skyline view we had from there. We met up with a friend that we got to know in Peru. Its so nice to have friends all over the world. Thanks Fey for taking the time for us.
Great Ocean Road
Ein toller Start in Australien mit der Great Ocean Road…. Unseren Mercedes Camper haben wir in einen kleinen rotem flitzigen Suzuki Swift umgetauscht und wieder gehts ab auf die Strasse, dieses mal in Australien. Meer, Strand, Felsen, Koalas, Kängurus und viele Papageie sind uns begegnet. Nach 3 Tage Great Ocean Road gehts ab ins Stadt leben.
Wir sind von Melbourne nach Apollo Bay in das Coastal Motel, von da nach Warrnambool ins Elm Tree Motel und wieder zurück nach Lorne in das Chatby Lane. Alles sehr empfehlenswerte Motels an guter lange.
Great Ocean Road
A great start in Australia with the Great Ocean Road … We swapped our Mercedes Camper into a little red fire starter our Suzuki Swift. We are now hitting the road in Australia. Beach, Sea, Rocks, Koalas, Kangoroos and lots of Partots crossed our way along the Road. After 3 Day on the road, the big City life is waiting for us.
We went from Melbourne to Apollo Bay stayed at the Coastal Motel, from there to Warrnambool to the Elm Tree Motel and back again to Lorne where we stayed at Chatby Lane. All very nice Motels in good locations.
