Traumziel Neuseeland

Hallo Ihr Lieben, ich weis, ich weis wir waren gar nicht fleissig mit Schreiben die letzten Wochen oder schon Monate. Neuseeland ist gekommen und schon wieder gegangen. Jetzt sitzen wir hier in Melborune und ich denke mir schon wieder ich habe fast keine Zeit um diesen Bericht zu Schreiben den draussen bebt die Stadt. Aber endlich ein paar Minuten für Euch und natürlich auch für uns. Ja, was sollen wir sagen Neuseeland? Unsere Traumdestination und Neuseeland war wieder sooo gut zu uns. In 6 Wochen haben wir mit dem Camper beide Inseln bereist. 4 Wochen im Norden und 2 Wochen im Süden. Ich fasse kurz zusammen was wir die ersten vier Wochen alles erleben durften.

4 Wochen Nordinsel Neuseeland:

5.November 2016 Ankunft Auckland Flughafen Camper fassen und ab auf die Strasse nach Ruakaka ein wunderbarer Campingplatz an einem langen Strand. Gleich weiter nach Bay of Islands Paihia, da lohnt es sich wirklich ein paar Tage zu verweilen. Wir blieben 2 Nächte und haben am Sonntagmorgen früh den All Blacks Rugby Match geschaut mit den Kiwis. Das heisst Bier trinken um 09:00 Uhr morgens. Natürlich war ich an diesem Tag die Fahrerin. Anschliessend war unser Ziel Cape Reinga. Letztes Mal haben wir es nicht hoch geschafft da uns die Zeit fehlte, darum war dies ein wichtiges Ziel für uns und ich muss sagen wir wurden nicht Enttäuscht. Der Leuchtturm am Ende der Welt ist total beeindruckend. Wo der Südpazifik und der Tasmanische See zusammentreffen. Ein mystischer und sehr stiller Ort. Da oben fühlt man sich einfach Frei, frei von allem. Nach diesen wundervollen Tagen in der Natur hiess es wieder zurück Richtung Cormonadel was auch ein weiteres neues Ziel für uns war. Wir sahen den Hot water Beach wo wir auch alle Touristen fanden. Man mietet eine Schaufel, geht zum Sandstrand und fängt an zu buddeln. Bis plötzlich feurig heisses Wasser aus dem Sand kommt. Anschliessend versucht man einen kleinen Pool zu Formen das man sich hinein setzten kann um die Wärmen zu geniessen. Wir schafften etwa 10cm Wasser drin zu haben. Haha. Aber es war eine lustige Erfahrung. Die Touristen Hochburg Neuseelands. Für mich kein unbedingtes Muss.

Dann die Nacht der Nächte. Wir auf einem Gratis Parkplatz direkt nähe Meer um 02:00 Uhr Morgens schrillt ein schrecklicher komischer Ton in unserem Camper. Lukas und ich beide aus dem Tiefschlaff gerissen. Ich sage zu Lukas, Ich glaube unser Kühlschrank ist kaputt der macht ganz komische Geräusche. Lukas emmm ich glaube das ist nicht der Kühlschrank. Plötzlich schossen ein duzend Autos an uns vorbei und alle Hupten. Ich schaue auf mein Natel um zu sehen was für Zeit es wirklich ist und sehe das Mike mein Bruder mir geschrieben hat ob es uns gut geht, weil wir ein Erdbeben hatten. Dann wusste ich Ohhh Ouuu etwas ist gar nicht gut. Ich schnell auf dir Strasse gesprungen und ein Auto angehalten, er sagte schnell weg hier, wir haben eine Tsunami Evakuation. Ich Waaaaaas? Eine Tsunami evakuation. Das Adrinalin pumpte um 02:00 Uhr Morgens durch den ganzen Körper. Ich rief zu Lukas wir müssen JETZT gehen eine Tsunami Evakuation. Einige Camaper waren auch auf dem Parkplatz also ging ich bei allen an die Fenster klopfen um zu sagen was los ist. Gemeinsam machten wir uns auf dem Weg zum nächst gelegenen Berg wo schon viele Menschen waren. Zum Glück waren wir mit dem Camper unterwegs somit konnten wir Parkieren und hinten uns wieder ins Bett legen bis zum nächsten Morgen. Glücklicherweise ist keine Welle bis zu uns gekommen und wir konnten normal weiterreisen. Ich würde sagen eine Gelungene Erfahrungen, wenn nichts dabei passiert. Aber die armen Menschen in Kaikoura hat es sehr schlimm getroffen.

Nach dieser heftigen Nacht nahmen wir es gemütlich und Reisten nach Tauranga was uns sehr gut gefallen hat. In den Hot Pools konnten wir uns erholen und dem schlechten Wetter entfliehen. Bis es zu Jos & Pete unseren Bekannten ging. Wir genossen 4 Tage in ihrem wunderbaren zuhause und haben so viel gesehen und erlebt. Mit dem Traktor zu den Ganets zu fahren, Fahrrad tour, der Farmers Markt und gesellige Abende mit ihnen und den Nachbarn. Von Hasting ging es nach Taupo was uns immer wieder gut gefäll und von da nach Taranaki zu weiteren Bekannten nähe New Plymouth. Später verbrachten wir zwei Nächte in Wellington mit einer Primarschulfreundin von Robyn.

Es ist verrückt was man alles in dieser «kurzen» Zeit in diesem wunderbaren Land erleben kann.  Aber wir sind noch nicht fertig es kommen noch zwei Wochen Südinsel dazu mit Je und Nikki.

Nach der Fähre hiess es nach Christchurch zu fahren um Je und Nikki abzuholen. Leider konnten wir nicht durch Kaikoura wegen dem Erdbeben, da alle Strassen geschlossen waren. Somit hiess dies für uns einen langen Umweg zu fahren. Aber das nahmen wir in Kauf da wir Je und Nikki am Flughafen abholen gingen. Ein tolles Gefühl in einem «fremden» Land seine Beste Freundin am Flughafen in die Arme nehmen zu können. Und weiter ging die Reise zu Viert für die nächsten zwei Wochen.

Südinsel:

Zu viert und zwei Camper ging es wieder ab auf die Strasse. Zuerst Richtung Hanmer Springs ein kleiner Ort der uns Überraschte. Wir gingen Water Raften und später in die Hot Pools. Am nächsten Tag weiter nach Kaiteriteri ein kleinder Ort Anfangs Abel Tasman National Park. Wir genossen den Strand und das tolle Wetter. Ein kleiner Ausflug mit dem Water Taxi in den National Park lohnt sich da auf jedenfall. Bald steht mein Geburtstag vor der Tür und dafür machten wir uns auf den Weg nach Golden Bay. Bessergesagt in das Mussle In Restaurant wo eine Live Band am 3.dez ein Konzert gab. So assen und tranken wir bis spät in den Abend bis 12 Uhr um in meinen Geburtstag anzustossen können. Glücklicherweise durften wir auf dem Parkplatz der Beiz übernachten in unserem Camper. Etwas durchgetanzt und spät ins Bettgefallen fühlten wir uns am nächsten Morgen. Wir zogen zum Campingplatz der sich direkt am Strand befindet um zu Frühstücken und den Strand zu geniessen. Lukas machte für uns alle Pancakes zum Frühstück, das war einfach nur Perfekt. Nach diesen tollen Tagen hiess es lange Fahren bis zu der Westküste Lukas’s liebster Ort auf dieser Welt. Rau, windig, lebhaft, grün, vielfälltig, naturpur. Pancake Rocks, Höhlen, Montheits Brewery, Hokitika, Punakaiki, Gletscher und noch viele andere Höhepunkte erlebten wir an der Westküste. Weiter nach Wanaka und Queenstwon. Wir freuten uns zwei Nächte in Queenstwon zu bleiben und etwas Zeit zu haben. Niki und Je hatten beschlossen eine Jetboat Tour zu machen und ich und Lukas marschierten auf den Queenstown Hügel hoch. Unterwegs haben wir zwei Basler kennengelernt die bereits Asien bereisten also bekamen wir sehr viele wertvolle Tipps von Ihnen sowie auch eine tolle Karte. Je und Nikki hatten das Jetboat für Samstag gebucht wir haben dies alle zusammen im Internet gemacht. Als sie auftauchten waren zwei zuviel auf dem Boot. Natürlich Je und Nikki. Die Frau sagte ahh ihr habt für Samstag gebucht? Die beiden Ja genau, für heute. Die Frau ja aber heute ist aber Freitag nicht Samstag. . . . . . .  Okeeey ich muss gestehen seit etwa drei Monate haben wir keine Ahnung welcher Tag das es ist. Aber das ist das wunderbare am Reisen. Es spielt gar keine Rolle ob Sonntag, Mittwoch oder sogar Montag ist. Wir können tun und lassen was wir wollen, haben keine Verpflichtungen und geniessen diese Freiheit. Nach vielen Highlits in Queenstown und wieder einer tollen Nacht mit live Musik ging es weiter nach Dunedin. Von da zu einer meiner lieblingsorten den Moeraki Bouldern und weiter zum Lake Tekapo wo wir die letzten Tage in der Natur verbrachten bevor es zurück nach Christchurch. ging Und genau sooo schnell gehen zwei Wochen Reisen mit Freunden vorbei.

Das unglaubliche an diesem Land ist, dass man sich jede Stunde fahrt aufs Neue wie in Canada, Alaska, Schweiz, Norwegen, Schottland und in der Karibik fühlt mit Jungel, Regenwald, Märchenwald, Meer, Strand, Vulkane, Bergen, Leuchttürmer und Wind; Sonne, Regen  und all das auf zwei «überschaubaren» Inseln namens Neuseeland.

Neuseeland. Unser Traum. Unsere Natur. Unser Highlight.  Unser Land.  Wir kommen bestimmt auch noch ein drittes Mal zurück.

New Zealand dream destination

Hello guys, I know, I know you didn’t hear from us the last few weeks or even month. New Zealand has come and gone again. Now we are sitting here in Melborune and I wanna take time for ou and us but the city vibes are catching me. But finally a few minutes for you and of course also for us. Yes, what should we say New Zealand? Our dream destination and New Zealand was again sooo good to us. In 6 weeks we traveled with the campervan through both islands. 4 weeks in the north and 2 weeks in the south. I just wanna tell you a few quick things of some of our experience the first four weeks.

4 weeks North Island New Zealand:

5.November 2016 Arrival Auckland airport get our camper and hit the road to Ruakaka a wonderful campsite on a long beach. After our first stop straight to the Bay of Islands Paihia, it is really worth a few days to stay. We stayed 2 nights and looked at the All Blacks rugby match early in the morning with the kiwis. That means drinking beer at 09:00 in the morning. Of course I was the driver on this day. Afterwards, our goal was Cape Reinga. Last time we did not get high up north because the time was missing, so this was an important goal for us and I must say we were not disappointed at all. The lighthouse at the end of the world is absolutely impressive. Where the South Pacific and the Tasmanian Sea meet. A mystic and very quiet place. Up there you feel free, free of everything. After these wonderful days in nature, it was back in direction of Cormonadel, which was another new destination for us. We saw the hot water beach where we also found all the tourists. You rent a shovel, go to the sandy beach and begin to dig. Until suddenly fiery hot water comes out of the sand. Then try to shape a small pool so you can sit in it and enjoy the warmth. We managed to have about 10cm of water in it. Haha. But it was a fun experience. The tourist high-rise of New Zealand. For me not an absolute must.

Then the night of the nights. We on a free parking near sea at 02:00 AM In the morning a terrible strange noise in our campervan. Lukas and I both torn from the deep sleep. I say to Lukas, I think our refrigerator is broken, its makeing quite funny noises. Lukas emmm I believe this is not the refrigerator. Suddenly, a dozen cars shot past us and all toot their horns. I look at my phone to see what time it really is and see that Mike my brother wrote to me if we were fine because we had an earthquake. Then I knew Ohhh Ouuu something is not good at all. I quickly jumped out on to the street and stopped a car, he quickly said away from here, we have a tsunami evacuation. Me WHAAAAT? A tsunami evacuation. The adrenaline pumped around my body at 02:00 in the morning. I shouted to Lukas we must go NOW a tsunami evacuation. Some camperans were also in the parking lot so I went at all to knock at their windows to tell them what is going on. Together we made our way to the next hill where many people were already. Luckily, we were traveling with the campervan so we could park and go back to bed until the next morning. Luckily, no wave came to us and we could travel on normally. I would say a successful experience when nothing happens. But the poor people in Kaikoura got hit very badly.

After this fierce night we took it leisurely and traveled to Tauranga which we liked very much. In the hot pools we could relax and escape from the bad weather. Until we went to Jos and Pete our friends. We enjoyed 4 days in their wonderful home and had seen so much. With the tractor to the Gannets, bike tour, the Farmers market and lovely evenings with them and their neighbors. From Hasting we went to Taupo which we liked again and from there to Taranaki to other friends near New Plymouth. Later we spent two nights in Wellington with a primary school friend of Robyn.

It is crazy what we can experience in this „short“ time in this wonderful country. But we are not finished yet, there are still two weeks South Island with Je and Nikki.

After the ferry the next stop was Christchurch to pick up Je and Nikki. Unfortunately, we could not get through Kaikoura because of the earthquake since all the roads were closed. So, this meant for us a long detour. But we took it in as we were going to pick up Je and Nikki at the airport. A great feeling in a „strange“ country to get to hug your best friend at the airport. And the journey went on four of us for the next two weeks.

South Island:

Four people and two campervans hit the road. First, we went to Hanmer Springs, a small place that surprised us. We went water rafting and later into the hot pools. The next day we continued to Kaiteriteri a little village at the beginning of the Abel Tasman National Park. We enjoyed the beach and the great weather. A small trip with the water taxi into the national park is definitely worth it. Its soon my birthday so we set off for Golden Bay. Better said to the Mussel Inn restaurant where a live band gave a concert on the 3.dec. So, we ate and drank until late in the evening until 12 o’clock in order to celebrate my birthday. Happily, we were allowed to stay in the parking lot of the Pub in our campervans. A little tired from all the dancing we moved to the campsite which is right on the beach to enjoy breakfast and the beach. Lukas made us all pancakes for breakfast, which was just perfect. After these great days, we had a long drive to get to the west coast which is Lukas favorite place in this world. Rough, windy, lively, green, varied, natural. Pancake Rocks, Caves, Brewery, Hokitika, Punakaiki, Glacier and many other highlights we experienced on the west coast. Continued to Wanaka and Queenstown. We were looking forward to staying two nights in Queenstown and having some time there. Niki and Je had decided to make a jetboat tour and me and Lukas walked up the Queenstown Hill. On the way, we got to know a Basler couple that already traveled through Asia so we got a lot of valuable tips from the as well as a great map. Je and Nikki had booked the jetboat for Saturday we did this all together on the internet. When they appeared two were too much on the boat. Of course, Je and Nikki. The woman said ahh you booked for Saturday? The two yes, for today. The woman yes but today is Friday not Saturday. . . . . . . Okeeey I must confess for about three months, we have no idea what day it is. But that’s the wonderful thing about traveling. It does not matter whether it is Sunday, Wednesday or even Monday. We can do and leave what we want, have no obligations and enjoy this freedom. After many highlights in Queenstown and again a great night with live music, we went on to Dunedin. From there to one of my favorite places the Moeraki Boulders and on to Lake Tekapo where we spent the last days in nature before returning to Christchurch. And just sooo fast two weeks of traveling with friends go by.

The unbelievable thing about this country is that you can travel in one hour through Canada, Alaska, Switzerland, Norway, Scotland and the Caribbean with jungles, rainforests, fairy forests, sea, beaches, volcanoes, mountains, lighthouses and wind; Sun, rain and all this on two „small“ islands called New Zealand.

New Zealand. Our dream. Our nature. Our highlight. Our country. We will come back a third time.

Because we cannot put New Zealand into words, lean back and give you into the land of the kiwi’s. We love it, we hope you too.
